Project Manager

I’m fortunate enough to work with a really incredible group of people, both in the UK and in the US – not forgetting our suppliers and customers. This makes it possible to do what we do; the passion and drive to deliver the best of the best is truly encompassing

Having started his career working for a leading OEM, Matthew eagerly embraced the opportunity to delve into the world of motorsport and now works as a project manager at AP Racing. But what does his role entail and what does he enjoy the most? We sat down with Matthew to find out more.

Matthew’s relationship with AP Racing started when his friend’s dad recommended that he apply for an open position. After a successful interview, Matthew joined the team in November 2006 as a customer account coordinator. He quickly progressed within the company, taking on roles including production planning team leader.

One of Matthew’s career highlights came in 2018 when he was responsible for overseeing the highest-grossing OEM customer account at the time. This played a pivotal role in the business reaching a significant sales milestone.

Years at AP Racing

In his current role of project manager, Matthew oversees cross-functional planning and execution activities. This involves managing team members and ensuring that project deliverables are met on time and on budget. He fosters alignment across departments, from conception to production, and collaborates with logistics and procurement teams to ensure parts availability.

Customer liaison is also a significant aspect of Matthew’s role. By regularly communicating with clients, he anticipates and addresses potential obstacles while providing regular progress updates and managing expectations.

Reflecting on his time at the business so far, Matthew said: “One of the best things about working at AP Racing is the variety of jobs that we undertake. It sounds like a cliché, but no two days are the same. We work on something different every day, which keeps you on your toes… But I wouldn’t have it any other way!"
