Absorb everything, regardless of who you’re working with or speaking to, listen and take on board all of the expertise and experience that they offer. It might sound obvious, but it’s the quickest way to develop both personally and professionally.
Four and half years after joining on a temporary contract, Ligia holds a permanent position as a warehouse operative. We recently caught up with Ligia to find out what she loves about her role and working at AP Racing.
Q. What is your current job role at AP Racing and what does it entail?
A: My current role is warehouse administrator, which sees me work on the hatch in the stores area – a service point contact area for operation technicians to request help, and batching for production, collating all the parts that are required to assemble a product.
Q. Can you talk to us about the day-to-day activities within your role?
A: My role involves keeping production supplied with the correct parts. Everything from booking parts into stock to overseeing the red wallets, which involves searching for items missing from stock in batched stock jobs. I also coordinate batch for production, which is arranging the order in which we service each production cell.
Q. What is the most exciting thing about your role?
A: Some people might say that this doesn’t sound exciting, but my role is absolutely critical in the timeline of projects passing through our production teams. I have to be organised, but flexible to work across a number of projects when needed. I also enjoy helping people and working as part of a team, which is perfect for this role.
Q. What are you most proud / has been the highlight of your career of since working at AP Racing?
A: Knowing that my job makes a difference across the business, particularly when I’m working on the hatch in the stores area, or when training and supporting the development of colleagues within my team.

Years at AP Racing
Q. What do you like most about working at AP Racing?
A: Since starting my career at AP Racing, I’ve built strong relationships – both personally and professionally, which make teamwork easy. Aside from this, we’re given a lot of opportunities to develop our existing skillset and learn new skills, which I really value.
Q. So, can you tell us a little bit about how you came to work at AP Racing?
A: I actually started working at AP through an agency. I worked on an ad-hoc basis until securing a permanent position within the team.
Q. What advice would you give to those who want to start in the industry?
A: If you’re unsure or don’t understand something, ask questions or write it down to ask at a later date. People are always willing to share their insight and expertise to help your development. Finally, it’d be to introduce yourself to all the members of your team. It’s the best way to build relationships and, if you’re in a new role, break the ice.
Q. What motivates you at work?
A: An easy one – by feeling like I’m doing well at my job, knowing that I’m working hard and working collaboratively within the team.
Q. What do you like to do outside of work?
A: Generally speaking, I enjoy going out and having fun. This does cover a lot of ground, but for me, it typically includes visiting and spending time with my friends or immersing myself in music.
